STAR Guides Wilderness Therapy | Adam Gleason

>> BIOGRAPHY

Adam’s love for the outdoors and nature started at a young age. Growing up in upstate South Carolina, Adam spent most of his free time canoeing, kayaking, fishing, camping and tramping through the woods. Adam has a long history of working with youth in various capacities. His enthusiasm was ignited while serving as an assistant Scoutmaster for several years. From there he worked at a waterfowl conservation camp working with about 400 youth each summer.
In 2008 Adam made the journey to Utah to begin a career working with youth and young adults in a therapeutic atmosphere.

Adam has worked in many capacities over the years including over five years in the field as a Field Guide. He was a field guide at Star Guides for two years before moving on to other roles. His other positions have included field support, group work supervisor, logistics manager and camp director. His journey has taken him to five different wilderness programs across four different states from upstate South Carolina to the Blue Ridge mountains of Northeast Georgia and North Carolina. His journey has come full circle with a return to Star Guides and the Utah desert to fill the role of Field Director.

Adam is passionate about the wilderness and the raw therapeutic environment it provides. As the Field Director of Student Services Adam understands the anxiety parents feel about their child and strives to create an atmosphere and work ethic worthy of their trust.
When not at work, Adam enjoys time with his wife and 3 children. It is not surprising that their favorite family activity is camping and being outdoors.
