ACADEMICS
The STAR Guides program milieu combines an intensive therapy program consisting of skills development, individual, group, and family therapy together with an accredited academic curriculum that allows for youth to continue to earn academic credits while participating in the program.
Our field instructors and therapists can assess student learning styles and then customize an approach based on the students academic struggles to facilitate academic success. In the process, it typically becomes evident how committed a student is to their academic progression and can reveal the level of academic support and structure that will be needed beyond the current placement.
The academic curriculum allows for students to earn .25 high school credits for the following
four academic courses:
-Language Arts
-Physical Education
-Health/Nutrition
-Earth Science
An official transcript of these credits is issued to the student upon successful completion and graduation from the program. This allows the student to continue to advance their education while participating in treatment services.
