Star Guides is a one-of-a-kind program. There’s not any program out there that I’m aware of that treats these issues in a wilderness setting where we have the capacity to absolutely completely unplug a youth from all technology, isolate them in a remote wilderness setting, and help them learn to develop coping skills that are based on true skills as opposed to escaping through technology or other dependencies. Parents are going to choose Star Guides Wilderness Treatment Center over any other treatment program because of the expertise that we have.
We are the leading treatment program in this specific area. But on top of that, it’s a wilderness setting. Doing treatment with clients when they are dealing with sexual addictions and sexually acting out and all these issues in a wilderness setting gets to really where the core issue is.
The Goal of Wilderness Treatment Centers
The number one goal of therapy would be to bring into play a mutual reality upon which we can all agree. And as long as the behavior is still going, and as long as there’s all this deception and all of the lying and everything that’s going on, there is no mutual reality. We can’t get to a place where we can decide, okay, let’s all agree that this is really what it is.
Now what do we want to do with it? There’s reason to be hopeful that as scary as it is in the beginning, children can heal, families can heal, and you can get through it. Here’s who you are, okay? And we can all see who you are. Now show us what it is that you’re going to do.
