Biography
Dr. Daniel Sanderson is an internationally known clinical psychologist specializing in forensic psychology, psychological assessment, and neuropsychology, with more than 30 years of experience in outdoor and residential treatment design. A well-respected clinician for wilderness therapies, he is considered a pioneer in wilderness treatment modalities, with a wide array of treatment options for children, adolescents, and their families.
Dr. Sanderson is an innovator who implements groundbreaking, first-of-their-kind interventions, including the Family Boot Camp and STAR Guides Wilderness — specializing in treatment for sexual addiction, process, gaming, and technology addictions, as well as concierge wilderness therapy programs.
He is recognized for creating the “Developmental Vacation®” treatment model — a highly successful and unique method for adolescents and young adults with difficult, complex early-childhood trauma, reactive attachment, and treatment-resistant emotional and behavioral health problems. He has performed hundreds of psychological evaluations and is an expert in psychological assessment.
Known by everyone as “Doc Dan,” Sanderson serves as consulting psychologist for White River Academy, overseeing clinical therapy for their adolescent treatment program in Delta, Utah. He is the Co-Owner and Clinical Director of STAR Guides Wilderness Therapy and Therapy Associates Clinic in St. George, Utah.
His cutting-edge work with families and individuals has been highlighted on the Discovery Innovations Channel, the BBC, and ABC News. Dr. Sanderson lends his influence to the fight against pornography, sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, violence against women and children, gaming addictions, and the breakdown of the family. He and his wife have five children and fourteen grandchildren, and his hobbies include mixed martial arts, backcountry hiking, sunset kayaking, paddleboarding, welding, and automotive restoration.
